Casual Living Sucks!!!

Casual living has been blacklisted as far as my choices where to buy furniture from. Imagine that I have booked the sale on 18 February 2007 and still I havent received my bed frame, dining table, dresser, night tables! They really suck big time! Imagine it's already end of March 2007. We managed to negotiate with them to change the items bought with those which are already available. Good that they allowed that but the worst part is until now two weeks after we went through the hazzle of going to Supa Centa again, the delivery crappy department failed to book the delivery! imagine that there was a previous system error and now there is another lapse on their system! So I may say that I am not satisfied with how their sales support work. They don't really care about the satisfaction of their customers as soon as sale has already been made! Why do they have to offer discounts if they cannot manage to book delivery!

im watching bunny and egg on the corner of my eye

hi there.. i just couldnt resist but eat the easter chocolate treats.. take 'em away from me, please!

random thoughts on a lazy saturday

There's nothing much to do.. Busy season is finally over. I don't have to go back to office and work. This is phenominal. Busy season here is just fantastic. Stress level never reached my fingertips.

Lemme think what has happened yesterday... Last night had dinner in a chinese resto, ordered spare ribs in salt 'n pepa' with my friend. *By the way I hope she will recover soon, I know its hard to lose someone and not be physically there with the few moments in her cousin's life. To the faithfully departed, may she rest in peace*

Last night I also had Gloria jeans' Caramel Nut Frap and a bit of easter chocolate buying. I bought a bunny and an egg from lindt. Almost can't wait to eat the bunny alive! EQ* I can wait for another week before I eat the bunny's head off!

The best morning usually happens when you don't have to think about waking up early and pretty much don't mind the time 'cos u don't have to drag yourself to go to office. Cooked my brekkie, just sausage cocktails and a salami. Morning stroll is a bit cold. Had cappucino take-away from finks cafe. It's already autumn but the leaves haven't fallen yet. It's really a fine weather to go out but rather I stay at home and clean. In a short while my bed will finally be arriving. Don't have to worry about sleeping on the mattress again. The dining table is also coming, don't have to worry about eating on my lap.

Watched 'Dodge ball' and it was hilarious. Later I'm going to watch 'Music and lyrics' and some episodes from 'House' (thanks Karen!) and Heroes. Really nothing much instored for me today.. Prolly go to North Sydney and grab some items from the grocery. As far as I could remember we don't have milk, bread, meat and a light bulb. Maybe it's best also to buy a wall clock so that I will constantly be reminded that I'm almost always late for work.

Sometimes it's weird 'cos you feel that life in another country is a plain routine experience. There's an empty space most of the time. The only consolation is to treat yourself with ice cream and a movie and the feeling of loneliness will be forgotten for a minute. But when you think about it, it's really hard to cope. It's like you want to meet mates who would not fret about going out of town because they dont have budget and wanted to save or sometimes the alibi is that it is unplanned and they are not willing to give in to your impulse trippings. The hell with that. I want to go to Blue Mountains! I want to go to Perth! and I want to go to Bangkok. I want to have a normal friday night gimmick! Whatever my collegues think about should not be a factor of my decision. I am ready to go alone if they always whine about the costs. Losen up a bit and have a life, for Pete's sake. Life's too short to compromise fun. Mid 20's is fast approaching. Conquer what you like and live your life. You may never know when it will end, therefore satisfy your urges and just do what you wanna do. So if you're with me just follow me on my random craziness!

long way home

fin'lly I'm home!

after a tiring journey, I just want to say I wanna go home and take a rest..

here's the story.. i was really frustrated with my accountant today since he was really working so hard. its good i know but we have to go home on time! forget about finishing the documentation. lets be practical! I'm living on the other end of new south wales. it takes ages before i reach home. this client is really a far place on the west considering I'm on the northern east of Sydney. the client is located at the farthest left. i was waiting for him to update our AWS (application we use to document our audit). i should have mentioned to him that i will go home before 6pm and I'll just replicate a copy so that he could update on his own without the use of my laptop. anyway, we head off at around 7pm. its really a long journey. we reached the isolated train station by 7:45 and I have to wait for another 20-25 minutes before the train finally came. I was in oblivion when i realised that I boarded the wrong train. it went passed circular quay and I have to walk all the way from st James to town hall. why did i not pay attention? its simple, i was reading this newspaper that was left inside the train.. and there's a story about an accident which a drunk driver sped off and went over the bus stop where people were waiting for their bus. people started flying across the street. I'm really not sure about fatalities but what struck me most is that two babies were injured. i hope they have survived. i just cannot fathom any person with a conscience doing that thing! i mean drunk driving! that's when i realised how important it is to drive clean! anyway going back to my story.. i walk all the way from st James to town hall it took me 30 minutes.. why? normally its only 15 minute walk but since I've seen Starbucks in one corner. i got myself a banana chip frap! its bad at first and when i realised I'm really hungry and somehow it doesn't taste that bad, I've come to appreciate it. and when i was in the train station, i was reading another newspaper and realised that i might have another unplanned stupidity, so i threw the newspaper where i got it and started paying attention. mind you newspapers are accessible anywhere because people here don't really care if they make the place dirty. there's no written rule that says newspaper is equal to rubbish! so i got off the train. saw a beautifully dressed woman in front of me, and when i stared down at her shoes.. there were no shoes! and her feet is oh soo dirty! its really shameful that she degrades herself even if she's wearing a very exotic dress. anyway, climbing this horrific mountain on the way to my home is really tragic for me! I'm really stressed out and i just want to teleport to my room and sleep. but here i am at home blogging and eating as i speak. thanks to Renee's Caldereta! somehow it saved my day from a total misery. plus forgot to mention, i stained her couch with green ink. i just hope i can find a solution to this problem tomorrow.

finally, i apologise about the trail of thoughts and that i digress to much. i just want to blog-it off! so that i will feel good and have a channel to say all of this miseries!

net testing@train

cool.. I can connect to the internet while im riding a train. its really a long journey. about one hour. anyway, got bored and tried to connect.. lucky me!

the joy of audit

Its really funny how i lasted for almost four years in audit. I am not fond of talking with the client, preparing reports, discussions with the team, in short i am not that good in communication skills. Its a bit weird that i was often assigned to foreign clients and now i am working overseas..

i never imagined myself doing audit for more than 3 years. And as i think of the richness in experience that you absorb from this job, i dont regret my overstaying with this industry. simple things can make u happy. Like when u discovered their complex inventory system. When u recomputed their revenue and u almost get 100% reasonable. Its fun and challenging and i cant resist this work. U will be tested on how far u will offer ur time in order to learn and u will discover how much u want to achieve and hardships u will pass through.

25 hours in a day

What if you've been given an extra hour for one day? What would you do? Basically the first question is what day would you choose?

I'll probably choose Sunday since it flies so fast that I would feel upset that day after Sunday is Monday again. I have to earn another week before I fin'lly enjoy my short weekend.

Tomorrow's like a granted wish, simply b'coz of the DST-thingey! I have been given an extra hour. Prolly the best thing to do is spend it sleeping. It seems like I never spend extra time to relax. Tomorrow I will wake up with the usual 7-ish or 8-ish but given an extra hour, it's like 8-ish or 9-ish. It will be so cool. Thanks so much DST for giving me an extra hour to spend on sleeping.

I will be spending most of the time tomorrow studying my new client for Monday. Looking for the best route to go there via www.whereis.com and at the same time watching episodes of Heroes which I am so currently addicted to.

Speaking of Heroes, its always been a dream of mine to have special powers like flying, reading minds, stopping time, teleport!! I've been dreaming of those power ever since X-men days.. I would love to do the power of Hiro Nakamura since I'll be able to go back to the Philippines without costing a penny.

I should definitely go to sleep and leave my laptop open to download the episodes I will be watching tomorrow...

talk and talk

Just talked with my dad, mom, Tito Len, my brother, Abby, Jing, Eric, JB, Paul, Boss Mae, Myleen etc... And i feel really really happy just hearing them and connecting with them once again! Touching base with them takes away all the worries in living in a foreign land. Its so good to communicate with your friends every now and then and just wondering what they were up to.. Anyway, its good and it makes me happy! I hope I could talk to all of my friends back home. I just booked my annual leave this May and planning to go to Perth and Bangkok. Also booked my December leave (for almost a month), I will be going back homeby then. I will make the most out of my vacation leave. Anyway, with at the rate that the time is moving it won't be long til December comes. Just the other day it was like Monday and the grumpiness to go to office and tomorrow's already Thursday and I'm quite excited to end the week. Time flies so fast nowadays..

cos stats will make u happy!

i honestly dont want to end this week. why? cos stats will make me happy. stats is short for fs finalisation, meaning statutory accounts. why? cos you would normally just stay in the office. pretty laid back life. no pressure from clients. just wrap up your audit documentation, pgap, and do review your stats. contrary to clients in the philippines where the auditor is responsible for the whole stat accounts (except for my key account, pwera lang pala ang annual report), here in australia you don't have to deal with it. maging cash flow expert ka lang, its enough and you're already an all-knowing-person! ni-financial instruments nga di sila ganon kahusay. im really happy that i experienced the ifrs conversion before i left sgv. it really added a lot of value in me and of course, nakaka impress din ng mga managers and partners d2! hehe

******************
am i frustrated again? i dunno! a bit, maybe. feel a bit annoyed. i rather not talk about it here. but due to my personality disorder, i was able to neatly fold and hang my clothes and make my room a pleasant place to sleep. i can't wait for my desk, dining table and bed to arrive. hopefully this saturday. it would really make me happy. finally my house is already a house! and we could get rid of the rubbish cartons and snow flakes (styro) which constantly make our house looks like there was a raging blizzard!

my thoughts now are focused on how i can make my stay here the best as possible. where do i wanna go? i wanna go to perth (west australia), goldcoast (queensland) and to alice springs (northern australia) and tasmania too... or maybe i do need to apply for permanent residency already? the problem is my documents? do i have complete set of syllabus from lasalle? i hope there someone who could bring some of my files here in sydney. hmm.. speaking of which! i hope my new found friend could help me with this.. imma ask her a favor! *fingers crossed*

motion for digression: just watched aeonflux! really cool! lovely! amasing! its grayt! you should watch it!

75th Anniversary of Hababij... Tiramisu saved my life!

Cool! its the 75th anniversary of Harbour Bridge ("Hababij"-self proclaimed by me)! The bridge was closed for the celebration. It just tells me how aussie people really likes to celebrate and have an enjoyable time. Too bad I can't be there since I have heaps of things to do in the office. I originally planned to take my work at home but yesterday I left at home the keys for my drawer–where my laptop is kept. So I have to come to the City again just to get the freakin' laptop! and i left my weekly train pass at home for crying out loud! Huhuhu :'( Got more than annoyed when the train back to Waverton was 30-minutes delayed. Far out, bugger!

So naturally, I have to go back to office and just work there. Rather than to squeeze myself with heaps of sweaty smelly people who smells like chopped onions with garlic and ginger and a bit of chili kili-kili that will suffocate me and put me to sleep. I'd be hypnotised and captured and tortured until I reveal the secret of the hababij! *this doesn't make sense at all*. I rather stay in the office eating Tiramisu, which by the way saved my life from all this crap mentioned earlier. Savor the goodness while its still chilled. This will boost me in finishing what I intend to do in the office. To the work addicted people! In short, to "Ghie"! Cheers!

weak full of worries

what happened to us this week? all of my friends are really having some problems and i thought it was just me that cant realise the problems theyre facing. but last night i felt so weak. i mean this week is really different since all of us really wanted to go home and go back to the "normal life" we had lived before in the philippines. anyway, i have to enjoy this week and im just gonna try to look for inner peace and soft laughter. i wonder if lindt pure excellence 70% can take away the miseries inside.

Clocks

Lights go out and I can't be saved,
Tides that I tried to swim against,
Have put me down upon my knees,
Oh I beg, I beg them please,
Singing, come out of things I've said,
Shoot an apple off my head,
And I, Trouble that can't be named,
The tigers waiting to be tamed,

Singing, you are,
You are.

Confusion never stops,
Closing walls and ticking clocks,
Gonna, come back and take you home,
I could not stop what you now know,
Singing, come out upon my seas,
Cursed missed opportunities,
Am I a part of the cure,
Or am I part of the disease?

-----------------------

Yeah, missed opportunities? Well, in troubled times and when everything seems to be going out of sight. The feeling that you tried so hard but still you're in rock bottom. Or to put it plainly, confused that sometimes pessimism can really pull you down. Whatever is the case, there's always a point in time we feel this way. And for the record, this song never fails to hit me so hard about my self worth and what I want to achieve in life.

Let's digress a bit. I feel so unproductive today that I haven't finished what I supposed to do in office. Feel so lazy as well. My room's a mess... I haven't done some urgent personal tasks... Haven't ironed my clothes... List can go on. I just hope that tomorrow will be one fine day. I hope it doesn't rain. I hope I can get up early not thinking that it's just Tuesday and I still have the rest of the week to drag myself to work. Awhile ago, I was watching people on the train and I can see that most of them are reading. Is it a trend or its just me? Maybe I should also bring one of my pocket books. And I might finish one tasks to stop me from whining.

Frustrated Chef and the Tinola

I don't wanna give it a big deal but somehow it really goes under my skin. Here's the thing.. I cooked Tinola for dinner feeling a bit excited. Preparing the ingredients and meticulously chopping them down into bits and pieces.. The aroma of my Tinola is good and everything seems to be in perfect order. But when I finally placed it in my bowl for consumption, something's odd. Like it lacks something.

My friend made a comment on how perfectionist I am considering that it's my first time to cook any Filipino dishes. Anyway, I just thought of how simple cooking really is. Just a matter of following directions but I feel I am a galoot that I cannot follow simple instructions. Shesh.. I'm really making it worse but maybe its just the way I really am. Perfectionist or what. I just don't want to spoil anything and want to impress my house mate. But I failed :c ...

How can you stop time

Just realised that we are not getting any younger by the minute. Had been thinking about my decision to move here in Australia for good and enjoy life here as there's so much in stored for me here. And I reckon that time is a bit fast nowadays...

This morning while I was on the client (which is a lovely school), there was a fire drill. It was really great to break-away from work for a while. I suddenly realise how time moves so quickly. I just realised that just not so long ago (really?!!) I was just making my way to my lower education and finding a lot of insights about the future, the adulthood and the career I want to be taking. I was thinking at that moment how I am going to be successful and spend on the things that I want. I want to finish school instantaneously and be mature as soon as possible. I've been a bit sentimental since I was always seeing kids in the school and how fun it is to have no problem and be a worry-free child. I also realised that my line of work creates heaps of problems and sometimes it can make you age a bit more.

If time can be stopped for awhile and just feel young and carefree, it would be the best thing in the world. I've come to Sydney to enjoy life and now I am a bit flustered with work. But still I hope for the best and to learn independently. That is the most urgent task that I want to accomplish. Painstakingly reaching every hardships and financial difficulties is just the initial step. Recently been spending thousands of dollars just to buy furniture and applicances. Moving ahead I realised that soon, greater decision is ahead of me. Bigger five-way intersection is yet ahead and decide which to go (Just like in Waverton, its actually my first time to encounter such crazy five-way intersection). But whatever is ahead of me. I know I will decide for the best. Will I stay or go? That depends on my fate here in audit. But I definitely think that I will not pursue audit until the end. But everything is still open and subject to changes.

So cheers and lets be worry free or time will fast so quickly..

Mardi Gras 2007

Last Saturday, I experienced my first taste of Mardi Gras. The Parade winds its way starting from Hyde Park, through the heart of gay and lesbian Sydney, to the biggest dance party in Australia. It's really fun and amasing. A lot of people joined whether they're straight or gay. Its more of a celebration of the acceptance of the gay and lesbian. It's really cool because everyone was on their party mood turned on and was dancing on the streets. Got a good spot and saw all the feathery and flowery costumes. Pink australian flag flashed everywhere and a big "NO" to homophobia in one of the banner I saw. It's great to be on a country which is very open and accepts different cultures. Be what you wanna be.. Who ever you are.. Whatever your race is.. It doesn't matter! Everyone has equal rights to co-exist and live harmoniously. Anyway, here's what wikipedia has to say about Mardi Gras...

The Sydney Mardi Gras (formally Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras) is an annual gay pride parade and festival for the gay and lesbian community in Sydney, Australia. It is one of the largest such events in the world. Despite its name, it is not held on Mardi Gras (Shrove Tuesday) or indeed, on a Tuesday at all.

It began on June 24, 1978 as a protest march and commemoration of the Stonewall Riots. Although the organisers had obtained permission, this was revoked, and the march was broken up by the police. Many of the marchers were arrested. Although most charges were eventually dropped, the Sydney Morning Herald published the names of those arrested in full, leading to many people being outed to their friends and places of employment, and many of those arrested lost their jobs as homosexuality was a crime in New South Wales until 1982.
The event was held again in 1979, with the name changed to the "Sydney Gay Mardi Gras". In 1980 the first post-parade dance party was introduced, and in 1981 the parade was shifted to February. An increasingly large number of people not only participated in the event, but larger numbers of the wider community turned out to watch the parade. In 1988 the parade was renamed the "Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras".

goodbye strathfield.. and welcome to waverton!

just last week i moved in to another suburb. it really saddens me to leave the place that i stayed for almost four months. strathfield is quite a unique place since i have woolies just a minute away and the train station that brings me to any place i would possibly want. if you want to live in a place that is accessible to all points in australia, then strathfield is the best place. country link to melbourne or canberra is even possible.

it took me three taxi cab to transfer all my stuff to the new place. waverton is a very classy place. its very peaceful and serene and its really a nice place to live. the only thing is the struggle of climbing your way up from the train station. but of course, its never a problem since its like rewarding yourself when you reach home since its really a nice apartment. gotta post some pics soon. we're pretty busy waiting for the furniture we bought two weeks ago.

have so much to blog about this past two weeks but never found time to jot something here. promise to return with the updates. plus of course tonight will be the biggest celebration in sydney which is the mardi gras, a celebration of the acceptance of the gay and lesbian. which even straight people attend to because its such a joyous event.

more updates when i return.. gotta fix our living room first.
